What are the facts about the business… the things that are not going to change?
These will be things like your telephone number, your business address and location. Things like opening hours, email address to make contact and all of the information that you want to keep consistent.
At this point, I recommend starting off with another mind map, brainstorm the unchanging FACTS about your business.
Rich Snippets
Another thing that we are going to look at when we’re creating our content and pulling it all together on the website, is rich snippets. They are pieces of code that we can put around content, like a telephone number or an address, that tells Google, “Hey! This here is a telephone number. This here is an address. These are our opening hours. This is our company logo.”
By doing that, it gives Google a great overview of your business and it will start to show that content in new ways. You might have seen other google listings where you get different pages and information presented underneath the main page result, those are caused by rich snippets.
We will go into the technicality of that later – it isn’t really all that technical. If you can copy and paste, I promise you can do rich snippets. It’s great content that’s going to keep your ranking well in Google!
Mission Statement
Getting your Mission Statement together is important, it’s your elevator pitch.
So if somebody asks, “What do you do?“ you can actually give them your quick pitch in under two minutes and they will know what you do. Hopefully you will have piqued their interest and they will want to know more!
Don’t throw this away once you’ve created it. You are going to want to stick this into your scrapbook, your journal, or your business file.
It is something that you can build on over time, refine, and refer back to.
